On December 10, 2022, a devastating attack rocked the farming community of Over-Rail in Ihamufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, after suspected armed Fulani herdsmen stormed the village, leaving death, destruction, and sorrow behind.
Among the victims were Mr. and Mrs. Chukwu Vincent, dedicated farmers and parents of nine children, whose family was torn apart during the assault. Their sons, Emmanuel Chukwu and Oliva Chukwu, both married men, were reportedly attacked while trying to defend their farmland and protect their community.
Emmanuel Chukwu was brutally hacked to death with a machete, while Oliva Chukwu and his wife were allegedly shot several times as they attempted to flee for safety.

The violence also claimed entire families, including members of the Nwafo, Nwankwo Chibuzo, and Ugonwachukwu families. Reports from the community say that at least 32 villagers were killed in a single day, with some victims allegedly mutilated before being buried at the village market square.
As panic spread across the community, many residents fled into nearby bushes and neighboring towns. Others, mostly women and children, were reportedly abducted during the invasion.
To this day, several persons remain missing, including Nneka Chukwu Vincent, Chisom Achorom, Ugochukwu Onyeawusi, Chigozie Anih, Franklin Eze, Daniel Okpara, Nnenna Onu, and Chukwuma Ogbu, among many others whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Years after the tragedy, many affected families say they are still searching for answers, justice, and the safe return of their loved ones.
