Every woman’s menstrual cycle is another time when she must be especially careful about what she does and eats. What you do during your menstrual cycle can have a significant impact on how it goes.

In addition to ruining our underwear, unmanaged monthly cycles can cause havoc in our personal and professional lives. Premenstrual syndrome *(PMS)* can also bring on a wave of feelings.

While menstruation is a time for self-pampering, many women believe that the calories they consume during this time are not counted toward their daily caloric intake.

However, research has revealed that they’ve been doing everything incorrectly.

*Here are some things a woman should avoid while menstruating, and here are a few of them:*

*1. Don’t eat salty snacks :*

During menstruation, it is not recommended that you consume salary snacks. Even if you’re tempted to reach for a bag of chips or a bag of French fries, resist.

Salty foods can exacerbate the symptoms of your menstrual cycle. In addition to causing bloating and worsening period cramps, eating salty foods can also cause them. Consume less of it if you’re trying to maintain good health.

*2. Do not consume any dairy products:*

Even if you’re tempted to eat this food, wait until you’ve finished your period.

Dairy is not your friend at this time of year. You’ll feel even more bloated if you consume dairy products in any form.

These findings have nothing to do with whether or not you are lactose intolerant. If you want to avoid irritable bowel syndrome and cramping, steer clear of dairy.

You’ll also want to avoid consuming dairy products, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

*3. Avoid unprotected sexual contact:*

You should avoid unprotected sex during your menstrual cycle. Protect yourself if you’re one of those people who thinks that having a good time in the bed will help you get through the leak week.

Because blood is such an excellent medium for the growth of viruses and bacteria, extra caution should be exercised when handling it.

That means that while you’re having a good time, your blood could be acting against you by harboring harmful viruses.

It is also easier for viruses and bacteria to spread from the vagina and into the pelvis when you are on your period because the cervix is more narrowly dilated at this time.

As a side note, unprotected sex is not a good idea. It doesn’t matter if you’re menstruating or not if you’re at risk of pregnancy.

Ovulation and bleeding can occur at the same time if you have irregular periods. During menstruation, it is imperative that you wear protection at all times.

*4. Don’t stay up all night long!:*

Cortisol, the body’s stress hormone, can be elevated if you don’t get enough sleep.

Having a high level of stress during your period can be detrimental to your well-being.

Whenever you’re having a period, make sure to take some downtime to relax and recuperate.

*5. Don’t overdo it with the caffeine:*

While it is perfectly fine to consume coffee on a regular basis, you should avoid doing so while you are on your period.

Your cramps will get worse if you drink too much caffeine. Caffeine-rich foods are also to be avoided at all costs.
